“Go” and “make” are two verbs that require action on our part.

Many times I have heard someone say, why do we need to go to a foreign country when
there are plenty of lost people right here? Yes, there are plenty of lost people all around
us. I’ll answer this question later .If you are not personally involved in foreign mission
work, I would like to challenge you to think globally - to consider what you can do on a
personal level “to make disciples of all nations.”

I have had the privilege of taking several mission trips with evangelists Michael and
Jan Gott to teach conversational English in Ukraine and Moldova.

Before going, I must confess, I had to look up the countries on a map to see where they
were located. I knew nothing about the people, their history and honestly, I never gave
them a thought.

My experience changed me – I am different. Serving side by side as the body of Christ
with my Christian brothers and sisters in Eastern Europe gave me a new perspective.
Though we spoke different languages, we understood the universal language of Christ’s
love. God replaced my “thoughtlessness” with compassion. Now I “feel” something when
I hear news reports about these nations and their struggles.

Christ has no hands but your
hands to touch and bless and
heal,
No feet but your feet to lead
men
in the path of truth,
No arms but your arms to
gather the scattered,
No tongue but your tongues to
cheer a suffering mankind,
No heart but your heart to
love, to
pity, to care.

How do you feel about going on a mission trip to a
foreign country? In other words, are you willing to travel
to another country to tell others about Jesus Christ?

Rick Warren in his best selling book, The Purpose
Driven Life writes, “You were made for a mission.” Do
you believe that? Do you believe God has established a
mission personally for you to do? The Great Commission
found in Matthew 28:19-20 is given to everyone who
follows Christ. I believe what this means, and what Mr.
Warren suggests, is that God has established a purpose
and a plan for each one of us to “go and make disciples of
all nations.”
If you cannot physically go, consider other ways you can “go
and make disciples.” Prayer and financial support of teams such
as the ones I have mentioned are ways to carry out The Great
Commission. You were made for a mission!
The best way to switch to global thinking is to just get up and go on a short
term mission project to another country!
