Tearing up....sweet, sweet memories. And John was such a fun and funny guy! Our class reunions will never be the same. And who will sit by me and keep their arm around me the whole time, keeping everyone wondering if something else is going on?

I went steady with John in 6th grade too. We were in the same homeroom at College Hill and we would meet at the football games on Friday night. We sat with Eddie Grant and Karen Bailey. Fun times! Then he broke up with me to go steady with a girl from Edgemere (Eggsmear) named Belinda! How dare he do that to me! LOL! When I saw him at our 20 year reunion he introduced me to his friend as his 6th grade girlfriend. Probably introduced Belinda the same way! He really got around for an 11 year old! Good memories!

We haven't had a family reunion since 2000! Many of my grandparents generation are gone or will be gone soon and so it is more important than ever to have another. Social networking sights are great for staying in touch on a surface level, however, it is kind of a double edge sword. We feel like we're in touch when we really aren't and so the much needed reunion is put off until a later date. I find it's hard to get the younger generation together to plan the event. We do know many of our first, second, and even third cousins and our great aunts and uncles. We have family spread all over the United States, however, that we don't know. I think that email has helped with the annual family newsletter, however, the only family I receive it from is family I already know well. ;)

I think writing a sentence about each person on your list is a great idea. In becoming a mother, you kind of lose yourself and your children tend to think of you as only their mother. Writing a sentence about how you met someone, what they mean to you, etc. will not only help your children carry on the tradition if they need to, but also show them that "mom" is a person just like them with relationships that formed before they were born when mom had a life of her own. ;)
